We have launched a new “No Animal Left Behind” campaign.

No more driving past an abandoned dog or cat without checking to make sure it is safe, fed, and can get home if possible.

FurLifeLiving isn’t just a lifestyle and entertainment stop, we are also a Not-for-Profit corporation dedicated to rescuing animals and providing care and education to the people who love them. We are committed to working on the side of the animals who need our help.

Our Team has collectively spent the last 15 years caring for multiple colonies of feral cats, making sure they have food and shelter in the winter months. We are all TNR-certified and committed to safely trapping, neutering, and releasing stray cats back into their colonies or finding forever homes to help reduce the over-population and homelessness. Most days, we can’t go home without checking on the neighborhood’s stray dogs and puppies and litters of kittens left behind by a backyard breeder or humans who just didn’t want them anymore. To date, we have spent thousands of dollars to help every single animal we’ve found in need, with no regrets.

We want to start somewhere. In San Bernardino and Riverside Counties combined in California there are hundreds of dogs and cats that are killed in traffic each week because they have been forced to endure the streets and survive on their own. These county agencies spend a great deal of their limited resources to capture and care for these abandoned animals. In most cases they are injured and/or in need of immediate medical attention. After which, these agencies begin the daunting task of seeking space that may be available in private shelters, while attempting to find suitable foster homes and permanent families for these unwanted animals. San Bernardino and Riverside Counties are among the most underserved communities in CA in caring for animal welfare, providing assistance to their communities and educating people on basic needs of animals. The furLifeLiving team has taken on the enormous responsibility of dealing with the animals left to fend for themselves living by trashcans in low income communities and roaming round alone in the heat of the desert.

Now, we need your help.

To make our efforts more efficient, our team has identified a van that will become furLifeLiving’s Mobile Rescue Van. This van needs to be completely stocked daily with dog and cat food, basic pet supplies, crates, nail clippers, and other important animal necessities.

This week alone, our office has been asked to help retrieve pets from families because their nails are too long. (When the pets jump on the people, they scratch them, so they are no longer wanted.) We’ve been told that family pets need to be surrendered because people have to move and where they’re going doesn’t allow pets. Some people don’t know how to choose between feeding themselves and having healthy dog and cat food available. Some people toss their pets out onto the streets as soon as they get fleas or become dirty. There are also people who decide to expand their human family, and their pets no longer fit into the equation. These are the pets and humans we want to continuing helping. We believe that educating people about the benefits pets add to our lives while giving them assistance to care for them can make a difference in seeing a decline in the estimated 60 to 80 million dogs and cats euthanized in shelters each year or abandoned to the streets to fend for themselves. “Owner ignorance” is responsible for the high number of stray and abandoned pets, and we want to help combat that.

Once a month, our Mobile Rescue Van will select a different area in the San Bernardino and Riverside Counties known to have a high population of stray animals. We will visit with low-income pet owners who simply need basic items to get through the week and will provide them with informational material to help them better care for their pet(s). We’re also working to build local area databases that point people in the direction of where to go for low-cost spay and neutering services and veterinarian care.
