This was when I bought Dexter his first doggy pool! He was beyond excited for his first time swimming! Dexter was adopted by my boyfriend after Habitat for Hounds found him abandoned, underweight and with a terrible skin disease. U.S. military combat dog Layka was shot four times by the enemy at point-blank range, while serving overseas in Afghanistan. It’s a true miracle this amazing hero is alive. There’s no doubt that she saved her handler, Staff Sgt. Julian McDonald and his comrades.

Despite her nearly terminal injuries, she still attacked and subdued the shooter, saving her handler and the other members of the team.
