US National Guard soldier, Captain Andrew Schmidt, has been away from his favorite girls for way too long… he has been serving a five-month tour in Afghanistan and has missed his wife Jen and his pup, Gracie way too much. When this video was filmed, the Schmidts did not have any children of their own, Gracie was their only “child” and as you are about to see, she missed her dad a whole lot!

Did you know that more pets run away around the 4th of July than any other holiday? Fireworks can be very loud and confusing for animals, especially dogs, and many get so scared they run away from home without thinking where they’re going. When a volunteer with Hope For Paws got a call that a homeless dog was shivering on the side of the road during a fireworks display, he rushed over to help her, calming her during the noise and calling her Lola. Eventually, Lola was taken to a shelter and is now ready for adoption!

Oh what fun!!! This is Sookie, a Greyhound that has recently been rescued from a shelter. His life has clearly improved because Sookie is now able to enjoy all of the pleasures of life, including cooling off in a kiddie pool!

For nine months, Emmitt Thunderpaws waited patiently for his military dad and best friend to return home from deployment. When dad finally returned home, you can imagine just how understandably excited this massive Great Dane was to see him!

Coco’s mom decided to tell her there was an imaginary squirrel outside and just like any amazing guard dog, Coco needed to investigate! Who knew she would do so by channeling her inner cat!
